Energy Star Certification

A home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which means they are 20–30% more efficient than standard homes. Homes achieve this level of performance through a combination of energy–efficient improvements, including:

  • Effective Insulation Systems
  • High–Performance Windows
  • Tight Construction and Ducts
  • Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment
  • ENERGY STAR Qualified Lighting and Appliances
  • Tax Credit 45L

To ensure that a home meets ENERGY STAR guidelines, third–party verification by a certified Home Energy Rater is required. This Rater works closely with the builder throughout the construction process to help determine the needed energy–saving equipment, construction techniques, as well as to conduct the required on–site diagnostic testing and inspections to document the home’s eligibility for the ENERGY STAR certification.

Zero net energy (ZNE) buildings, those that consume no more energy over the course of a year than they generate with onsite renewable sources, are growing in the commercial building industry. All Elements offers many services to determine what is needed for your home to become a Zero net energy (ZNE) home:

  • Blower door and infiltration testing
  • Duct leakage testing certification
  • Indoor air quality testing
  • HVAC design and Manual J heat load calculations
  • Net zero modeling
  • Florida Energy code calculations
  • Testing and balancing verification
  • Dehumidification recommendations

HERS Rating

A comprehensive HERS Home Energy Rating, conducted by an All Elements Home Energy Rater, is the most in-depth energy performance assessment of a home you will find. HERS ratings consist of diagnostic testing using specialized equipment to determine the amount and location of air leaks in the building, any leakage from HVAC distribution ducts, as well as the effectiveness of insulation inside walls and ceilings, and much more.

  • Duct leakage testing certification
  • Air conditioning efficiency testing
  • Lighting efficiency analysis

ASHRAE

Energy Audits and Analysis (ASHRAE) – Preliminary Energy Use Analysis and Levels 1, 2 & 3

On Average, $23,000 is spent on utilities every year in a small commercial building. Cost-effective energy upgrades could reduce that by 80 percent.

Our energy audits evaluate the systems within a building to determine what measures can be implemented to reduce the energy use. The audit prioritizes the measures according to the most cost-effective opportunities for energy savings. The American Society of Heating Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineers (ASHRAE) have developed standard energy audit levels that All Elements Mechanical can provide:

ASHRAE Level 1 - Walk Through Analysis

Includes preliminary audit and a site visit by an energy auditor who focuses on low cost energy conservation measures and potential capital improvements

ASHRAE Level 2 - Energy Survey and Analysis

Identifies all appropriate energy conservation measures for a building and a financial analysis based on implementation costs, operating costs and attainable savings

ASHRAE Level 3 – Detailed Analysis of Capital-Intensive Modifications

Involves more detailed field data gathering and engineering analysis along with detailed project cost and savings information sufficient for capital investment decisions
